Extended project qualification

Extended project qualificationThe Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is taken by year 13 students. The course is designed to help them to develop their skills of independent learning and research alongside project management and time management skills. Students can pick a topic of their own choice to research and will produce either a 5000 word research dissertation on the topic, or they will develop an artefact with a 2000 word research report. During the course, students will learn research and presentation skills which form an excellent foundation and valuable transferable skills for university or the workplace.

Successful dissertation projects include projects on business marketing, psychological and biological research into Alzheimer's, causes of the Spanish Civil War, causes of the 2009 economic crash and paramedic science. Examples of artefact projects include furniture design, architectural design, jewellery making and computer programming.
